How to Place a D365 Module on Accounting-Only Hold

At month-end, accounting will ask you to place certain modules of D365 on hold. This is to prevent end users from entering new information into those modules since they’re closed.

To accomplish this, we place different modules as requested on “Accounting-only” hold. This allows Accounting management to continue to work in the period but prevents end users from entering new transactions.

To place a module on Accounting-only hold, navigate to:

General ledger >> Calendars >> Ledger calendars

This will open the Ledger calendars page.

Find and select the Fiscal period you need to modify.

Each row in the Legal entities area is a different Nelson Brothers company.

To set a module on Accounting-only hold, change the module access level for that company to “ACCOUNTING

When you’re done, close the window and make sure to let whoever requested the hold know it’s done.

The modules in here don’t line up exactly to the D365 modules list. Here are the most common requests and which modules you should set to ACCOUNTING to place on Accounting-only hold:

AR (Accounts Receivable) – Sales tax, Customer, Sales order, Retail headquarters.

AP (Accounts Payable) – Vendor, Purchasing, Expense.

Production (Production orders) – Production, Inventory.

Typically, these are the only three that get requested specifically, then when totally done, Accounting will request the whole period be placed on full-hold.
