How to Create an Internal Repair Work Order In D365

 

In D365 navigate to all Work Orders List Page and click on New.

This will open the Create work order screen.  

  1. In the Work order type dropdown select Corrective
  2. In the Description select General Corrective Maintenance
  3. Select the Asset
  4. Select the Warehouse Shop for the repairs
  5. Select Internal Repair for the Maintenance job type
  6. Select the Expected Start/End Date then click OK

After clicking the OK button this will open the Work Order in the Work Order Lines screen.  Note the Status of the Work Order is New.   Next at the top of the screen click the Journals button to open the Journals screen.

In the Work Order Journals screen in the Hours section at the top click 1. Add line.  This will add a Journal Line for the Labor Hours.  2. Select the Mechanic that performed the work.  If more than one mechanic add a second journal line for the other mechanic.  3. Add the number of hours and select NonBill in the line property.  4. Select the proper VMRS Code.  Click the Save Button at the top of the screen.

 

Next, in the Items section click the Add Line button to add a new Journal Line.  1. Select the Item Number of the part being added.   2. Enter the quantity and NonBill in the line property.  3. Select the proper VMRS Code.  Now click the Save Button at the top of the screen.

Now you should double check the Financial Dimensions ensuring that they are correct.  This should be performed in both the Hours and the Items sections.  1. Click the Financial dimensions button to open the 2. Account Dimensions screen.  The Account Dimensions should default to the values for the Asset the work is being performed on.  Make any necessary changes and click the Save Button at the top of the screen.

Now we need to Validate and Post the Journals.

  1. Click the Validate Journals button.
  2. In the Blue Ribbon click Message details the Message details window will open to the right of the screen with information if the Journal is OK.
  3. Now click the Post Journals button.
  4. Click the Bell icon to open the Message details, this will open to the right of the screen with the status of the Journal Posting.

Finally, we will update the Lifecycle State of the Work Order.  At the top of the screen in the Lifecycle state area click

  1. Update work order state
  2. Check the Completed checkbox
  3. Click OK, this will open the Lifecycle state: Completed screen

In the Lifecycle State Completed screen

  1. Select the Actual End date for the Work Order
  2. Click OK, this will take you back to the Work Order Lines screen.

Back in the Work Order Lines screen notice the Work Order now shows Completed on the right side of the screen.
